Joti Gata-Aura

UK-based Diversity & Representation Campaigner and Vitiligo Spokesperson

I’m Joti Gata-Aura, a London-based British-Asian who, at the age of 21, developed the skin condition Vitiligo, and since then I’ve been on an evocative journey, as documented in my book ‘Strong In The Skin I’m In’.

Over the last few years, through my organisation, Positively Diverse, I have been able to action my mission to champion better representation for those with visible disabilities.

In collaboration with the media, charities and socially responsible businesses, I promote body positivity and inclusion, including Vitiligo awareness and the lack of diversity for those with visible disabilities in the media and fashion industries.

As a parent, bi-lingual Spanish tutor and special needs teacher, every day I strive to raise awareness and empower young people to believe in themselves, no matter what perceived imperfections they may have. I firmly believe that everyone should celebrate their individuality and differences, united to create a more positively diverse and inclusive society.

My ultimate goal is to build a community that encourages confidence in people who, like me, need to be seen and heard. After all, we all have the right to live in a world that celebrates diversity and fosters joy and confidence.

Thank you for joining me on this journey!
